Notre Dame Takes Doubleheader from Valpo

Valparaiso suffered a doubleheader sweep at the hands of Notre Dame on Wednesday afternoon, as the Fighting Irish defeated the Crusaders 5-0 and 10-0 in Notre Dame, Ind.

In the opener, the Irish scored two in the second and three in the third to account for all of the scoring. Brittany Atteberry went the distance in the circle for the Brown and Gold, allowing ten hits. Shannon Robinson and Beth Adamski tallied Valpo's two hits in the game.

Game two saw Heather Booth and Carrie Wisen combine on a five-inning perfect game. The duo combined to strike out eight. Notre Dame (16-8) scored eight times in the opening inning to take control of the game.

Valparaiso (0-19) will open the home portion of their 2005 schedule on Thursday afternoon as the Crusaders welcome Michigan State to the Valparaiso University Softball Field. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m.
