Valparaiso University's Courtney LaFerle (Elgin, Ill./Larkin H.S.) has been named the Mid-Continent Conference Player of the Week after helping lead the Crusaders to a weekend sweep of first place Southern Utah.
The freshman hit .545 (6-for-11) on the week with four doubles, a triple, five runs batted in, and scored three times. She drew four walks for a .667 on base percentage and registered a 1.091 slugging percentage.
LaFerle hit safely in each game last week and enters Tuesday's twinbill against Purdue with a six-game hitting streak.
