Amy Wittgenstein is in her second season with the Crusader softball team, working primarily with the outfielders and catchers. Amy is also responsible for the operations of other various duties, including monthly team newsletters and coordinating clinics and camps.

In her first season at Valpo, the Crusaders won a school-record 30 games and led the nation in stolen bases/game.  Valpo also finished second in its inaugural season of Horizon League action.

Wittgenstein, a St. Paul, Minnesota native, started 173 of the 197 games she played at South Dakota State University. A four-year starter and the Jackrabbits’ regular catcher, Wittgenstein earned Academic All-Conference honors in her final two seasons. In her career, she recorded a cumulative .984 fielding percentage and ranks in the career top-fives at SDSU in games played and sacrifice bunts.

Wittgenstein graduated from South Dakota State in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in public recreation. She began pursuing her master’s degree in sports administration at South Dakota State while serving as an assistant coach for the Jackrabbits. Wittgenstein is currently working to complete her master’s degree in sports administration at Valparaiso.
