Andrew Ure arrived at Valpo in the summer of 2011 and works directly with the men’s soccer and women’s bowling programs while assisting with duties of the track/field and cross country teams.
Ure came to the Valpo staff after receiving his Masters’ degree from Fresno State University in Kinesiology, with an emphasis in Sports Psychology in 2011. He worked primarily with the Bulldogs’ as an athletic trainer with the football program and women’s lacrosse team. He also assisted in coverage for the cheerleading squad.
He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in athletic training from Averett University in 2009. While at Averett, Ure learned the intricacies of the Functional Movement Screen from its co-founders, Gray Cook and Lee Burton. He brings this functional approach to rehabilitation and injury prevention to the Valparaiso Sports Medicine Staff. He gained experience with all sports as a student athletic trainer at Averett, but worked primarily with men’s basketball, softball, men’s soccer, and baseball. Ure also split time as a student-athlete with the men’s basketball and men’s soccer teams.
