The votes are in and Valparaiso University’s student section, the Valparaizone, has advanced to the semifinal round of the second annual Naismith Student Section of the Year Award contest. As one of the top college basketball student sections in the country, Valpo is asking for fan support to help win the prestigious title. Crusader fans will now have a say in determining the most deserving student section by voting for the Naismith Student Section of the Year Award.

Valparaiso senior Ryan Broekhoff (Frankston, Victoria, Australia/Australian Institute of Sport) scored 26 of his career-high 30 points in the first half as the Crusaders ran out to a 20-3 lead en route to a 77-64 victory Saturday night at the ARC over Bethune-Cookman. With the win, the Crusaders claimed the trophy for winning the Valparaiso Division of the Joe Cipriano Nebraska Classic.

Valparaiso men's basketball head coach Bryce Drew announced today that Alec Peters (Washington, Ill./Washington) signed a National Letter of Intent during the early signing period and will be joining the Crusader program as a freshman for the 2013-2014 season. Peters joins the four signees announced last week - Jubril Adekoya, Nick Davidson, Lexus Williams and Clay Yeo.

The #9 Valparaiso bowling team concluded the UMES Hawk Classic in Millsboro, Del. on Sunday, finishing the 18-team tournament in tenth place.

The Valparaiso football team dropped its season finale Saturday afternoon, falling 76-24 to the Morehead State Eagles at Jayne Stadium in Morehead, Ky. The Crusaders’ offense compiled a season-high 29 first downs and amassed 449 total yards in a losing effort.
