Valparaiso senior forward Ryan Broekhoff (Frankston, Victoria, Australia/Australian Institute of Sport) has been named the Horizon League co-Player of the Week following a pair of stellar performances last weekend, including a career-high effort on Saturday.

Broekhoff, who earned the weekly honor from the league office for the first time and shared it with UIC's Gary Talton, opened weekend play by scoring a team-high 15 points in Friday's win over Chicago State. Ten of Broekhoff's 15 against the Cougars came in the second half, including eight during the critical 16-0 run which salted the game away for the Crusaders. The senior also pulled down five rebounds and came up with a pair of steals.

Broekhoff then put together one of the finest halves in Crusader history in Valpo's Saturday win over Bethune-Cookman. The senior matched his previous career high in the first half alone, scoring 26 points over a stretch of 14:16 to help stake the Crusaders to a 16-point halftime lead. Broekhoff was 7-of-8 from the floor in the opening 20 minutes, including a perfect 3-of-3 from the 3-point line, and also hit all nine of his free throw attempts. Broekhoff ended the night with a new career-best 30 points to go with seven rebounds.

For the weekend, Broekhoff averaged 22.5 ppg and 6.0 rpg while shooting 56.5% from the floor and a perfect 13-of-13 from the foul line as the Crusaders won the Valparaiso Division of the Joe Cipriano Nebraska Classic. Broekhoff and the rest of the Crusaders return to the court on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 2 as they play at Saint Louis.
