Crusaders Sweep Mid-Con's Weekly Awards

Valparaiso University's Lauren Moulton (Elgin, Ill./Larkin H.S.) and Liz Mikos (Dundee, Ill./Jacobs H.S.) swept the Mid-Continent Conference weekly volleyball honors as they were named the Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week.

Moulton averaged 3.25 kills per game while hitting .379 offensively for the Crusaders, and added 1.38 blocks per game on defense. In a five-game loss against IUPUI on Friday, Moulton hit .474 with 20 kills and nine block assists. Saturday, when Valpo clinched a share of the Mid-Con title, the sophomore was one of four Crusaders to register six kills as part of a balanced attack.

Mikos posted 2.62 blocks per game, 1.11 digs per game, and added 2.25 kills per game while hitting .462 on the weekend. Against IUPUI she tallied eight kills and posted 11 blocks, while adding five digs in the five games. In the win over Chicago State, the sophomore tallied ten kills and ten blocks, including four solos, while hitting .667. On the weekend, she did not register an error offensively in the eight games.

For Moulton, she earned the honor for the first time this season, while Mikos earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades back on September 2 as well.
