Valparaiso senior outside hitter Angie Porché (Lynwood, Ill./Thornton Fractional South) has been named the Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week for her performance last weekend, the league announced today.

Porché kicked off the week with a solid nine-kill, five-dig effort as the Crusaders went on the road and swept Youngstown State in their Horizon League opener.  She then posted a couple of big matches on Saturday at the Pitt Blue and Gold Tournament, kicking off the day with ten kills on .364 hitting to go with six digs in a sweep of 2008 MEAC champion Maryland-Eastern Shore.  The senior then hit a season-best .433 in the nightcap against the host Panthers, posting a team-high 17 kills and also tallying eight digs.

On the weekend, Porché averaged a team-best 3.60 kills/set while swinging at a .317 clip and also picked up 1.90 digs/set.  This was the senior’s third career weekly honor from the Horizon League, and she also earned All-Tournament honors at Pitt, the eighth All-Tournament team of her career.  Porché and the rest of the Crusaders return to action on Friday evening at the ARC, with a 7 p.m. league matchup against Wright State.
