Crusader fans turned out in force to vote once again, giving Valparaiso junior setter Jenny Pokorny (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) the title of ‘The People’s Choice’ on the Horizon League Network this week.  Pokorny is currently spotlighted in a video on the Horizon League website via phone interview.

Pokorny was up for ‘The People’s Choice’ voting after being named the Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week last week, her first career weekly honor from the league.  The Crusader setter was named the league’s player of the week after posting 10.22 assists, 3.67 digs and 1.78 kills per set last week while hitting at a .378 clip.  Pokorny is the second Crusader to be named ‘The People’s Choice’ already this season, following libero Taylor Root.

In this week’s video, Pokorny talks with HLN’s Jaclyn Bevis about how her experience at other positions last season has helped her as a setter this year.  She looks back on the pair of matches from last weekend at home against Wright State and Butler, including how it felt playing in front of such a large crowd Saturday.  Finally, Pokorny talks about the vast amount of time the Crusaders spent on the road in the first month of the season and how it has helped the team grow closer.

Pokorny and the Crusaders return to action Friday night with a Horizon League match at UIC before coming back to the ARC on Homecoming Saturday for a 6 p.m. showdown with former conference rival IUPUI.
