Crusaders Sweep Austin Peay

Valparaiso recorded their first volleyball victory of the season on Saturday morning, downing Austin Peay in three straight games, 30-16, 30-18, 30-17 in Milwaukee, Wis.

Marion Hansen (Huntley, Ill./Huntley H.S.) led the Crusaders attack with 12 kills, 11 digs, and a .407 hitting percentage, while Michelle Robinson (Bloomington, Ill./Normal H.S.) added eight kills.

Sara Silcox (Michigan City, Mich./Michigan City H.S.) contributed 15 digs, while Heather Hynds (Sylvan Lake, Ill./Mundelein H.S.) registered eight blocks. Cyndi Norman dished out 31 assists for the Brown and Gold.

Valpo (1-1) outhit Austin Peay (2-3) .269-.024 for the match and held a 13-1 advantage in blocks.

The Crusaders will play Lehigh later on Saturday in a 5 p.m. match to conclude the Marquette Challenge.
