Valparaiso sophomore libero Taylor Root (Jenison, Mich./Jenison) has been recognized by the Collegiate Volleyball Update (CVU.com) for the third time this season as one of its Top Performers from last week following her season-ending performance at Western Michigan.

Root, who is one of just eight players to receive at least three weekly honors from CVU in 2010, closed out the season with a team-high 28 digs in Valpo’s come-from-behind four-set win over the Broncos.  Root surpassed Brittany Malicoat’s 2007 total of 740 digs midway through the third set, setting new program and Horizon League records with 754 digs on the year, despite now playing 25-point rally scoring as opposed to 30-point rally scoring.  The sophomore also closed the regular season atop the national leaderboard with an average of 5.94 digs/set on the year.
