Currier Earns AAU Volleyball Academic Honor

Incoming Valparaiso freshman Kayla Currier has been named a recipient of the 2014 AAU Volleyball Academic All American Award, as announced by the AAU Volleyball National Executive Committee earlier this month.

The award was created in 2013 by AAU Volleyball to recognize student-athletes for their excellence in academics as well as athletics.  All recipients attended high school during the 2013-14 academic year and participated in the 41st AAU Girls’ Junior National Volleyball Championships.  Currier played with the Chicago Ultimate 18 Gold squad at the national tournament.

Currier joins a Crusader program with a history of academic success.  Valpo has earned the AVCA Team Academic Award in nine of the last 11 seasons, maintaining a team GPA of at least 3.30 each year it has received the award.
