Four Valpo Players Named to MVC Scholar-Athlete Teams
Rylee Cookerly and Brittany Anderson were MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team selections.

The Valpo volleyball team tied for conference-high honors Tuesday as four players earned spots on the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Teams. Brittany Anderson (East Chicago, Ind./Bishop Noll) and Rylee Cookerly (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) were both First Team Scholar-Athlete honorees, while Haley Hart (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) and Bella Ravotto (Mishawaka, Ind./Marian) earned spots on the Honorable Mention Team for their work on the court and in the classroom.

Anderson ranks third in program history in 4,478 career assists, as well as 14th in MVC history. She also sits 17th in program history with 1,233 career digs. This season, setting in a 6-2, Anderson is averaging 5.61 assists and 1.76 digs per set and ranks ninth in MVC-only play in assists/set.

In the classroom, Anderson graduated with her bachelor’s degree in sports management last December with a 3.82 GPA. She currently carries a perfect 4.00 in Valpo’s sports administration graduate program. This marks Anderson’s first appearance on the Scholar-Athlete First Team after twice previously being an Honorable Mention Choice.

Cookerly will finish her career as the Valpo and the MVC career record holder for digs, as well as second in NCAA Division I history, as she currently owns 3,055 career digs. The two-time MVC Libero of the Year and an AVCA All-Region selection last season, Cookerly paced all MVC players again during the regular season with 4.83 digs/set.

Cookerly earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing in May with a 3.96 GPA and is currently enrolled in Valpo’s DNP program. The MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year last season, Cookerly was a CoSIDA Second Team Academic All-American in the spring and is a four-time Academic All-District choice. This marks Cookerly’s fourth selection to the MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team.

Hart has stood out on both sides of the net for Valpo this season as a senior. She is fourth among MVC players with a .306 hitting percentage and eighth with 1.01 blocks/set, both team highs. Within conference play, Hart is the only player to rank in the top-10 in both kills (3.00/set, 9th) and blocks (1.09/set, 8th).

Hart owns a 3.47 cumulative GPA as a psychology major. She has earned the MVC Commissioner’s Academic Excellence Award and been named to the MVC Honor Roll. This marks the first Scholar-Athlete Team honor of Hart’s career.

Ravotto has been a key part of Valpo’s strong back-row play this season, averaging 3.09 digs/set – 10th-best in the MVC and the second-highest ranking non-libero. She has bumped her average up to 3.30 digs/set within MVC-only play. Ravotto posted 10 or more digs on 19 occasions and reached double figures in kills eight times in the regular season.

Ravotto carries a 3.931 GPA as a health care leadership major. She has earned the MVC Commissioner’s Academic Excellence Award and been named to the MVC Honor Roll. This marks the first Scholar-Athlete Team honor of Ravotto’s career.
