Saturday's Women's Game is a “WBCA Pink Zone” Game

On Saturday, February 21 the Valparaiso University women's basketball team will host the Butler University at the Athletics-Recreation Center at 1:35 p.m.  The women's basketball program has designated this game as their "WBCA Pink Zone" game.  "WBCA Pink Zone" is an initiative created by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association in an effort to raise awareness about breast cancer.

The color pink has traditionally been selected as a means of increasing awareness for this terrible disease.  In support of the "WBCA Pink Zone" theme, pink t-shirts will be handed out to the first 200 fans, while both teams will be wearing pink warm-up tops and shoelaces.

Prior to the game, breast cancer survivors will be honored as part of a pre-game ceremony during which they will present the game ball to the referee.  Anyone who is a breast cancer survivor (faculty, staff, community member, etc.) and is interested in taking part in the pre-game ceremony can contact Adam Klos, Assistant Director of Athletics - Event Management at (219) 464-6125 or Adam.Klos@valpo.edu.

During halftime, a game of Knock-Out will take place as a fundraiser for cancer.  The cost to participate in the contest is $1.00 per person and the proceeds will go to the Porter County Cancer Society.

Please come out and support the fight against breast cancer!
