Valparaiso University’s Aimee Litka (South Bend, Ind./Saint Joseph’s H.S.) has been named this week’s U.S. Army Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the Week after an impressive performance last weekend.

The senior guard averaged 17 points per game in Valpo’s road split against Milwaukee and Green Bay.  She scored 26 points, including 21 in the first half, in the 83-65 win at Milwaukee last Thursday.  Litka made six-of-nine three-pointers and also had five steals, five rebounds, and three assists against the Panthers.

Litka added eight points at Green Bay and was the Crusaders’ second leading scorer against the Phoenix.  She now has 150 career triples, sixth most all-time at Valpo, while ranking 20th in career scoring with 836 points.

In the classroom, Litka is enrolled in Valpo’s sports administration program after already earning her bachelor’s degree in sports management.  In her fourth year at Valpo, she has been named to the Horizon League’s Academic Honor Roll each of the last two years, in addition to having previously been named to the Mid-Continent Conference All-Academic Team.

Litka is the fourth Crusader to earn the accolade this season, joining Agnieszka Kulaga (Tarnow, Poland/I Liceum Ogolnoksztalcace H.S.), Launa Hochstetler (Berlin, Ohio/Hiland H.S.), and Ashley Varner (South Bend, Ind./Washington H.S.).

Litka and the Crusaders will host Detroit on Friday evening in a 7:05 p.m. contest.
