Valparaiso University’s Betsy Adams (Monticello, Ind./Twin Lakes H.S.) has been named a preseason Second Team All-Horizon League selection and the Crusaders have been predicted to finish ninth in the conference this season as the league has released its preseason polls.
Adams led Valpo in scoring last season, averaging 12.6 points per game. A 34.9% three-point shooter on the year, she was deadly from the free throw line, connecting on 91.4% of her attempts. The senior was third on the squad averaging nearly two assists per game as well for the Brown and Gold while starting all 31 contests.
The Crusaders were tabbed ninth as a team in the preseason poll conducted of the league’s head coaches, sports information directors, and media members. Green Bay was picked to win the league for the 14th consecutive season followed by Cleveland State and Wright State. Butler was picked fifth, followed by UIC, and Milwaukee. Detroit and Loyola were selected ahead of Valpo while Youngstown State rounded out the selections.
Valparaiso will open exhibition play hosting Huntington on Nov. 1 at the Athletics-Recreation Center. Tip-off is set for 7:05 p.m. The regular season opens Nov. 12 at SIU Edwardsville.
