Valparaiso junior Charae Richardson (Lafayette, Ind./Jefferson [Vincennes]) has been named Horizon League Newcomer of the Week for helping the Crusaders split a pair of road contests between IPFW and #8/8 Louisville.

Richardson scored a career-high 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting and also tied a career-high with six assists in Valparaiso’s 82-73 win at IPFW on Tuesday. She was 2-of-4 from behind the three-point line against the Mastodons and also added two steals.

For the week, Richardson shot 7-of-12 from the field and averaged 4.0 assists per game.

Richardson and the rest of the Crusaders return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 19, when Valparaiso travels to Kalamazoo, Mich. to take on Western Michigan at 6:00 p.m. CT.
