The Horizon League released its women's basketball preseason poll on Wednesday. The survey of head coaches, sports information directors, and limited media members picked Valparaiso to finish eighth. Valpo finished tied for eighth in the HL last season with a 3-13 record in conference play.

Valpo collected 60 points in the poll, just one behind Milwaukee who checked in at seventh place. Green Bay received the most first-place votes (16) to go with 229 polling points. The Phoenix were last year's regular season champions of the Horizon League, but fell 88-69 to Wright State in the finals of the Horizon League Tournament. Wright State was tabbed to finish second with 219 points and nine first-place votes. The Raiders welcome back Kim Demmings, the 2013-14 Horizon League Player of the Year. Cleveland State was selected third with 182 points and two second-place votes. UIC and Youngstown State finished in a tie for fourth place with 151 points apiece. Oakland (105 points) was chosen sixth. Detroit finished three points behind Valpo in ninth place with 57 points.

The Crusaders kick off regular season play on Friday, November 14th when they welcome Butler to the ARC for a 5:00 pm CT tip. #4 Louisville (Nov. 30), Tulsa (Dec. 6), and Illinois (Dec. 13) also highlight an exciting home slate.
