Back-to-back 20-point performances versus Detroit and Wright State have earned Dani Franklin (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/George Washington) her third Horizon League Freshman of the Week award, as announced by the league office Monday. Franklin has averaged 16.0 points per game and shot 52.7% from the field in her last six contests.
In Valpo's 74-68 win over Detroit on Thursday, the rookie enjoyed her best shooting performance to date. She knocked down eight of her nine field goal attempts - including a 2-for-3 night from beyond the arc - in addition to squeezing six rebounds in just 23 minutes of action.
Franklin repeated her eight field-goal output Saturday versus Wright State. She posted 20 points in the Crusaders' defeat to the Raiders.
She is pacing the Brown and Gold in scoring at 13.1 points per game.
Valpo returns to the court Thursday evening when Milwaukee (8-13, 4-5 Horizon) comes to the ARC for a 7:05 pm tip.
