Christian Papp joined the Valparaiso women’s basketball staff for the 2004-2005 season as a graduate assistant and was promoted to the role of assistant coach during the summer of 2005.
Now as an assistant coach, Papp helps coach the post players, assists with scouting, and also organizes all of the team’s travel. He also serves as the program’s academic monitor.
In his first season with the Crusaders, Papp was responsible for film exchange, team video breakdown, producing publications for coaches and alumni, and assisting the recruiting coordinator.
Papp served as a manager with Valparaiso’s men’s team from 1996-1999, and graduated from Valpo in 2001 with his bachelor’s degree in history. While working with the men’s program, the team made three straight NCAA Tournament appearances, including a run to the Sweet Sixteen in 1997-1998.
Prior to returning to Valpo, he served as a teacher and a girls’ varsity coach at Prairie Heights High School. During the summers, Papp works basketball camps at Purdue University and with Dena Evans’ Point Guard College.
He is now working on his master’s degree in sports administration at Valpo.
