Crusaders Close Out Big Red Invitational

#1 Valparaiso closed out action at the three-day Big Red Invitational in Lincoln, Neb. on Saturday morning, finishing the tournament in seventh place.

Valpo placed seventh in the 12-team field, in which the standings were determined by final average per game over the three days of the tournament, with an average of 193.97. The Crusaders were less than three pins per game out of fourth place. #8 Arkansas State earned the tournament title with a 208.18 average.

Valpo ended Saturday's action, which was contested in the normal final-day format of best four-out-of-seven baker despite having no bracket play, with an 0-3 record. The Crusaders fell twice on Saturday to #11 Stephen F. Austin and once to #14 Monmouth, all by 3-1 scores in the best-of-seven matches.

Valparaiso (46-18) returns to action next Friday, Jan. 27 at the Kutztown Invitational in Reading, Pa.
