Crusaders Announce Six Newcomers for 2013-2014 Season

Valparaiso bowling head coach Matt Nantais announced today the addition of six newcomers to the Crusader program for the 2013-2014 season.

Savannah Carr (Buckeye, Ariz./Youngker) helped lead the Rough Riders of Youngker H.S. to the Arizona high school state championship in the 2012-2013, as the team captured its second straight regional title along the way. Carr previously spent two years at North Canyon H.S., helping her team there to a pair of state titles as well. Individually, Carr has captured three championships at Junior Bowlers Tour (JBT) events and owns 13 top-five finishes in JBT tournaments.

Brittney Groulx (Davison, Mich./Davison) comes to Valpo after spending time at Saginaw Valley State University and Mott [Mich.] C.C. During her prep career, Groulx helped lead the Cardinals to the Michigan Division 1 state title as a senior, Davison's first state title in bowling. A three-time First Team All-Conference honoree, Groulx earned Third Team All-State accolades as a junior. Outside of prep competition, Groulx advanced to the national Junior Gold qualifiers in Las Vegas in 2011.

Marianna Guerrieri (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) helped lead the Warriors to the Illinois state championship last season as a senior. Guerrieri helped Waubonsie Valley to conference championships in all four of her seasons, including three undefeated league campaigns, as well as the sectional title and a third-place state finish as a junior.

Carly Larson (Merrillville, Ind./Merrillville) joins the Crusaders after winning the IHSB state singles championship as a senior in 2013. Larson, whose sister, Jill, is also a member of the Valpo bowling program, ranked among the top three high school bowlers in the state in average each of her final three seasons. She was a First Team All-State honoree as a junior and earned Second Team All-State accolades as a senior before winning the state title. Larson, who has won numerous tournaments through her career, is also a three-time All-Area honoree and was named the Post-Tribune Girls Bowler of the Year in 2012.

Alyssa Meade (Chesterfield, Mich./L'Anse Creuse North) comes to Valpo after finishing as state runner-up individually as a senior in 2013. A three-time qualifier for states, Meade earned All-State honors in each of her final three seasons, culminating with First Team accolades as a senior. She also won the individual regional championship as a junior and earned the conference title during her sophomore season.

Lauren Wolski (Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South) helped lead the Hornets to the state tournament for the first time in nine seasons as a senior in 2013. Individually at sectionals, Wolski rolled a 1252 six-game series, the third-highest sixh-game series in team history. A two-time All-Conference honoree, Wolski was named Team MVP as a senior as well.
