Valpo Closes Out Action at Nebraska

#14 Valparaiso wrapped up play at the Big Red Invitational in Lincoln, Neb. with a trio of matches on Saturday. The Crusaders closed the tournament in a tie for fifth place.

Valpo opened Saturday's play, contested in the traditional team format, against #4 Arkansas State. The Crusaders suffered a narrow 941-939 defeat, despite getting games of 207 from Torrie Decker (Van Wert, Ohio/Van Wert [Robert Morris (Ill.)]) and 205 from Raychel Wolever (Charlotte, Mich./Charlotte).

The Crusaders fell in their second match of the day as well, dropping an 895-838 decision to #6 Sam Houston State, as Savannah Carr (Buckeye, Ariz./Younger) led the way for Valpo with a game of 183. Valpo ended the tournament on a high note, downing McKendree in the finale 891-875, led by a 216 effort from Carly Larson (Merrillville, Ind./Merrillville).

Valparaiso (18-23) is now off until after the start of the new year, as the Crusaders' next tournament will be Jan. 17-19 – the Mid-Winter Invitational in Jonesboro, Ark.
