Valpo Closes Out Action at Prairie View A&M

#14 Valparaiso finished out the Prairie View A&M Invitational in Arlington, Texas on Sunday, finishing the event in eighth place.

The Crusaders opened Sunday's action, contested in the best-of-seven baker format, against host Prairie View A&M. After splitting the first four games, Valpo took a 3-2 lead with a 205-179 win in game five. Prairie View A&M bounced back with a 179-170 win in game six to force a decisive seventh game, but the Crusaders earned the 4-3 win over the hosts with a 225-182 decision in the finale.

The last two matches of the tournament would not be as kind to the Crusaders, however. Valpo dropped a 4-2 decision to #5 Stephen F. Austin, despite winning two straight games after being down 3-0. The Crusaders could then only manage a split of one game in a 4.5-0.5 loss to #2 Maryland Eastern Shore.

Valparaiso (38-43) has next weekend off before returning to action at the three-day Track Kat Klash in Huntsville, Texas, which begins on Friday, Feb. 14.
