Valparaiso fifth-year senior Torrie Decker (Van Wert, Ohio/Van Wert [Robert Morris]) became just the second bowler in Crusader program history to earn All-American honors, as she was named an NTCA Honorable Mention All-American on Wednesday night.
Decker led the Crusaders throughout her final season, posting a team-best scoring average of 198.9, the third-highest single-season mark in program history. The senior earned All-Tournament Team accolades both at the Central Missouri Invitational and the Southland Bowling League Championship.
Decker broke 200 in 30 of her 67 individual games on the season and rolled a career-high game of 268 on March 7 at the Columbia 300 Music City Classic, tied for the seventh-best single-game effort in program history. She led Valpo in her senior season in 22 individual matches and finished out her career with a 191.6 scoring average, third-best all-time at Valpo.
Decker becomes just the second Crusader since the program started in 2009-10 to earn All-American accolades from the NTCA. Previously, Natalie Cortese earned Second Team All-American honors as a sophomore in 2009-10 and closed her career with back-to-back Honorable Mention notice.
