Crusader Bowling Opens Warhawk Classic Friday

The Valparaiso University bowling team kicked off action at UW-Whitewater’s Warhawk Classic on Friday with a challenging slate, as four of the Crusaders’ five opponents are ranked among the top-10 nationally.

How It Happened

  • Valpo opened Friday’s competition, contested in the five-game baker format, against the nation’s top-ranked team in McKendree, falling 1008-821. The Crusaders rebounded with a win over Lincoln (Mo.) in their next match, 872-717.
  • Valpo then earned a victory against a top-10 team in the next match, taking down #9 Sacred Heart by a 943-868 final.
  • The Crusaders fell in their final two matches of the day, 1022-803 to #8 Fairleigh Dickinson and 903-860 against #10 Central Missouri.
  • Valpo ended the day in 16th place in the team standings, based on total pinfall.
