Valpo Bowling Recognized for Academic Excellence

Six members of the Valparaiso University bowling team earned All-Academic recognition from the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) for the 2018-19 campaign, while Valpo also earned academic honors as a team from the NTCA. Valpo Bowling has had at least three bowlers honored each year of the program’s existence.

Graduated senior Kendra Tryniski (Fulton, N.Y./Fulton) earned All-Academic recognition for the fourth time in as many years to close out her career. Junior Becky Lohse (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton) and sophomores Payton Bertermann (Grayslake, Ill./North), Sam Perez (Aurora, Ill./Oswego East) and Mirica Yancey (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) all picked up the honor for a second consecutive season, while sophomore Hannah Forton (Macomb, Mich./Dakota) earned the award for the first time. Bowlers must maintain at least a 3.4 cumulative GPA for the academic year to earn the All-Academic award.

As a team, the Crusaders posted a 3.32 cumulative GPA to earn the NTCA team academic award for a fourth straight year. Valpo was one of 38 programs to be honored for the team’s work in the classroom by the NTCA.
