Valpo Bowling Closes Out Regular Season Sunday

The Valpo bowling team concluded the Columbia 300 Music City Classic from Smyrna, Tenn. on Sunday, bringing its 2019-20 regular season to a close.

How It Happened

  • Valpo opened bracket play, contested in the best-of-seven baker format, against Drury. The two squads split the first four games of the match, but Drury claimed games five and six to earn the 4-2 win.
  • The loss dropped Valpo into a matchup against Lewis. For the second straight match, it was a 2-2 tie through four games. Lewis rolled a 213 to claim game five, but Valpo earned a 188-175 win in game six to force a decisive seventh game. The finale saw Lewis roll a 204 to win 4-3, however.
  • Valpo concluded bracket play against Kentucky Wesleyan and dominated en route to a 4-0 victory, edging KWU by two pins in the first game and then winning the final three games all by at least 20 pins apiece to finish the tournament in 23rd

Valpo (41-58) will head to the Southland Bowling League Championship beginning on Friday, March 20. The winner of the eight-team tournament will earn the league’s automatic berth into the 2020 NCAA Tournament.
