The Valpo bowling team returns to the lanes this weekend as it hosts its annual early-season tournament — the Valpo Bowling Classic at Stardust Bowl III in Dyer.

The Beacons will welcome 13 visiting teams to Dyer for the three-day event, starting on Friday. The tournament is Valpo’s 12th early-season home tournament in the program’s 13 seasons, but is the first to be conducted at Stardust Bowl III.

The tournament field features Alabama A&M, #17 Central Missouri, Dominican, Drury, Elmhurst, Kentucky Wesleyan, Lewis, #18 Lincoln Memorial, #24 Marian, Mercyhurst, North Central, Spaulding, Tusculum and Upper Iowa in addition to the host Beacons.

Friday’s action will begin at 10:15 a.m. and will consist of five sets of five-game baker matches. Saturday’s five traditional team games will kick off at 9:30 a.m. On Sunday, the tournament concludes with three best-of-seven baker matches in bracket play, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
