The Valpo bowling team returns to the lanes this weekend as it hosts its annual early-season tournament — the Valpo Bowling Classic at Stardust Bowl III in Dyer.

The Beacons will welcome 15 visiting teams to Dyer for the three-day event, starting on Friday. The tournament is Valpo’s 13^th early-season home tournament in the program’s 14 seasons, with Stardust Bowl III serving as the host facility for the second time.

The tournament field features Alabama A&M, Aurora, Belmont Abbey, Carroll, Dominican, Elmhurst, Kentucky Wesleyan, #20 Lewis, Marian, #15 Maryville, #25 Newman, North Central, Upper Iowa, #18 UW-Whitewater and Wright State in addition to the host Beacons.

Friday’s action will begin at 10:15 a.m. and will consist of five sets of five-game baker matches. Saturday’s five traditional team games will kick off at 9:35 a.m. On Sunday, the tournament concludes with three best-of-seven baker matches in bracket play, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
