Valpo Places Fourth at Indiana Intercollegiates

The Valparaiso women's cross country team finished fourth at the Indiana Intercollegiate Championships on Friday afternoon in Bloomington, Ind.

Racing on a rainy, sloppy course, the Crusaders finished with 118 points while Purdue won the meet with 33.

Rachel Nelson (Lee's Summit, Mo./Lee's Summit H.S.) led the Brown and Gold with a 16th place finish overall cross the finish line in 19:21 over the 5K course.

Elizabeth Whiting (Parma, Mich./Western H.S.) was 20th finishing six seconds behind Nelson, while Rachel Stoehr (Antigo, Wis./Antigo H.S.) was another 12 seconds back in 27th place.

Jobeth Schmiesing (North Mankato, Minn./Mankato West H.S.) and Amanda Lee (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon H.S.) completed the scoring in 34th and 35th place respectively.

The Crusaders will be off this weekend before heading to the Notre Dame Invitational and Loyola Lakefront Invitational the weekend of Oct. 4-5.
