Tuesday, September 11, 2007

The Horizon League announced today that junior Laura Rolf (Rochester, Mich./Lutheran Northwest) has been named its Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week for her performance last Friday at the Crusader Open.

Rolf took top honors in the Crusader Open for the second consecutive year as she completed the 5K course in 17:51, outpacing the rest of the field by over a minute.  Her time marked the second-fastest 5K of her career, and her win marked the eighth time in 14 career races that Rolf has placed in the top-five.

Rolf’s victory helped Valpo to a fourth-place team finish.  The Crusaders defeated three of the four Horizon League teams they faced, running over the same course that will be used for the 2007 Horizon League Cross Country Championships.
