Rolf Receives Repeat Horizon League Honor
Tuesday, September 18, 2007

For the second week in a row, junior Laura Rolf (Rochester, Mich./Lutheran Northwest) has been named the Horizon League’s Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week after winning the Boston College Open last weekend.

Rolf completed the 5K course in 17:14, the fastest 5K of her career and second-fastest in Crusader history, just one second behind Collette Liss’ school record.  The junior defeated Syracuse’s Nana Sang Bender by two seconds, while the rest of the top-five was comprised of runners from Providence, Oklahoma State and Wake Forest.

Rolf’s win at Boston College was her second in as many races this season, following in the footsteps of her dominating victory at the Crusader Open.  She has now placed among the top-five runners in nine of her 15 career races.  Rolf and the rest of the Crusaders will return to competition on Friday, September 28, when they travel to Notre Dame to take part in the Notre Dame Invitational.
