Crusader senior Laura Rolf (Rochester, Mich./Lutheran Northwest) was named the Horizon League Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week today after her second-place finish at the Evansville Invitational on Saturday.
Rolf completed the 6K course at Evansville in 17:31.58, less than 13 seconds out of the top spot. The second-place finish marked her highest finish of the season and is the 13th time in her career at Valpo she has finished in the top-five. Rolf, whose finish helped the Crusaders to a sixth-place team showing, finished among the top-two runners in each of her three races at Evansville.
The honor is the first of the season for Rolf, who has now been named Horizon League Athlete of the Week on four occasions during her career. Next time out, she will be defending her Horizon League individual crown at the Horizon League Championships in Green Bay on Nov. 1.
