Valpo Women Race at Loyola

Five Valparaiso cross country members that did not compete at the Notre Dame Invitational on Friday raced at the Loyola Lakefront Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Chicago.

The Crusaders finished in 33rd place in the field of 44, while Missouri took home the team title.

Michelle Sexton (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Driscoll Catholic H.S.) led the Valpo runners with her 195th place finish overall in a time of 21:22. Kelly Owens (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands H.S.) was 233rd, crossing the finish line in 21:53. Tami McDunn (Farmington, Minn./Farmington H.S.) was third for the Brown and Gold with a time of 22:07. Dena Christoff (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South H.S.) was just six seconds behind McDunn, while Laura Bingham (Woodstock, Ill./Woodstock H.S.) was another 14 seconds back to round-out the Valpo line-up.

Valpo will take a weekend off before the Crusaders return to racing. Half of the team will travel to Terre Haute, Ind. for the Pre-NCAA Meet, while the rest will head to the Wisconsin-Parkside Invitational.
