Laura Rolf Named Mid-Con Athlete of the Week

After winning the Crusader Invitational and leading the Brown and Gold to their first ever team win at the event Friday, sophomore Laura Rolf (Rochester, Mich./Lutheran Northwest) was today named the Mid-Continent Conference Athlete of the Week.

Rolf covered the 4K course at Sunset Hills Farm in 14:20, seven seconds ahead of teammate Danielle Nunnelly (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) and 25 seconds clear of the next fastest runner. Rolf's win was the first of her career after several top five finishes as a freshman.

The 2005 Mid-Con Newcomer of the Year and a First Team All-Conference selection, this is the second career Athlete of the Week award for Rolf, who picked up the honors on September 27, 2005 after finishing 12th at the Stanford Invitational.

Rolf and the Crusaders will be in action Friday in Terre Haute, Ind. for the Indiana Intercollegiates hosted by Indiana State. The women's 5K race is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. with the men's 8K set for 4:15 p.m.
