Richardson Sets New Personal Best with Top-Ten Finish at Bradley Classic
Jessica Richardson looks to make her move in a crowded pack

The Valparaiso men’s and women’s cross country teams concluded their regular seasons at the Bradley Pink Classic in Peoria, Ill. today. The women ran a 6K and the men ran an 8K.

Senior Jessica Richardson (Columbus, Ind./North) continued her dazzling senior year as she earned another top-ten finish, crossing the finish line in 21:12.4, shattering her previous best by almost 40 seconds,  for seventh place at Newman Golf Course.

Sophomore Liz Bloy (Freedom, Wis./Freedom) finished in 57th place as she crossed the tape in in 22:25.3. Junior Dezzarae Arce (Orland Park, Ill./Victor J. Andrew) was the third point-getter for the Crusaders as she finished 23:16.7 and gained 136th place.

Rounding out the Crusader women were sophomore Michelle Espino (Fort Wayne, Ind./Northside) and freshman Kim Heiny (Burnettsville, Ind./Twin Lakes), who finished in 24:31.8 (186th) and 24:48.4 (192nd), respectively.

On the men’s side, sophomore Adam Bruno (Bloomington, Ill./Normal) paced the Brown and Gold with a 26:25.5 to finish in 107th place. Senior Mike Salguero (Ebensburg, Pa./Central Cambria) finished just a few spots behind him in 118th place with a time of26:30.3.

Sophomore classmates Max Morello (Plano, Ill./Plano), Dan Walters (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) and Jesse Greenhagen (Fishers, Ind./Fishers) rounded out the Crusaders scoring with times of 27:017 (140th), 27:12.2 (146th) and 27:13.7 (149th).

The men finished in 21st place, while the women finished in 23rd place.

Valpo returns to action on Nov. 1, when they travel to Kenosha, Wis. for the Horizon League Championships.
