Top-Ten Crusader Times Close Season at Great Lakes Regional
David Rutkowski and Adam Bruno paced the Crusader men, while Jessica Richardson led the women

 The Valparaiso cross country teams concluded their seasons on Friday at the NCAA Great Lakes Regionals, hosted by the University of Wisconsin at Zimmer Championship Course. The men finished in 27th place in the 10K, while the women placed 25th in the 6K.

The men were led by sophomore Adam Bruno (Bloomington, Ill./Normal) and senior David Rutkowski (Cedarburg, Wis./Living Word Lutheran), who both crossed the line in 32:53 to finish in 144th and 145th place, respectively. Both lowered their personal bests and are tied for the third-best time in Valpo history.

Senior Michael Salguero (Ebensberg, Pa./Central Cambria) set the ninth-fastest time in Valpo history with his 33:35 to finish in 173rd place. The sophomore tandem of Dan Walters (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) and Jesse Greenhagen (Waverly, Minn./Mayer Lutheran) rounded out the Crusaders scoring with times of 34:06 (179th) and 34:15 (184th), respectively.

All of the men ran personal bests as well.

Senior Jessica Richardson (Columbus, Ind./North) concluded her spectacular season with a 21:26, just four seconds off her personal best, to finish in 53rd place. Sophomore Liz Bloy (Freedom, Wis./Freedom) ran a 22:24 to claim 111th place.

The junior tandem of Dezzarae Arce (Orland Park, Ill./Victor J. Andrew) and Hannah Schilling (Fraser, Mich./Lutheran North) both finished in the top-200 with times of 23:32 (175th) and 24:18 (199th), respectively. Sophomore Michelle Espino (Fort Wayne, Ind./North Side) rounded out the Crusaders scoring with a 24:24 and finished in 202nd  place.

As a team, the women beat Horizon League champion Youngstown State.
