The Valpo men's and women's cross country teams concluded its respective seasons Friday at the NCAA Great Lakes Regionals in Madison, Wisconsin. The Crusaders claimed 27th place on the men's side, and 30th place on the women's circuit.

The first four to complete the 10K course for the men were all juniors.

Jesse Greenhagen (Waverly, Minn./Mayer Lutheran) paced the Brown and Gold thanks to a 34:10.2 finish, good for 161st place. Max Morello (Plano, Ill./Plano) was right on Greenhagen's heels as he crossed the line at 34:12.4. Adam Bruno (Bloomington, Ill./University) parlayed a 5:36/mile pace into a 34:47.8 result. Dan Walters (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) seized 180th place following a time of 35:15.2.

Freshman Leland Robertson (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) covered the course in 35:20.4 to round out a strong rookie campaign for the Crusaders. Fellow newcomer Ben Zibricky (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way Central) also polished off a nice inaugural season with a 36:45.8 time. Senior Nathan Gafkjen (Fishers, Ind./Fishers) recorded a 37:55.0 finish in his final meet for the Brown and Gold.

Junior Liz Bloy (Freedom, Wis./Freedom) led the Crusader women in the 6K race. Bloy stopped the clock at 23:35.5 as a result of her 6:20/mile pace. The Second Team All-Horizon League recipient netted 158th place.

Sophomore Kim Heiny (Burnettsville, Ind./Twin Lakes) crossed the finish line in 24:05.9. Senior Dezzarae Arce (Orland Park, Ill./Victor J. Andrew) turned in a 25:04.3 result in her final race. Fellow senior Hannah Schilling (Fraser, Mich./Lutheran North) posted a 25:23.8 finish. 

Junior Lauren Sturgeon (Portage, Ind./Andrean) notched a 25:27.0 time as she was the fifth Crusader to finish. Senior Sophia Robinson (Downers Grove, Ill./South) rounded out the Crusader six with a 27:34.1 result.

Michigan captured both the men's and women's team titles.
