Valparaiso’s women’s golf team improved by 11 shots at the PTSIR Golf Performance Classic on Tuesday morning, wrapping up play in ninth place for the 36-hole event played at Lost Marsh Golf Course in Hammond, Ind.
The Crusaders shot 379 in round two to finish the event at 769.
“Improving 11 shots as a team over yesterday’s round shows we are improving as a team,” assistant coach Bryan Bennett said. “We are looking forward to playing again on Sunday.”
For the second straight day Kathleen Cooper (Hobart, Ind./Hobart H.S.) led the way for the Brown and Gold, carding her second 87 for a two round total of 174. She finished in a tie for 38th overall.
Annie Nolan (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso H.S.) was Valpo’s second finisher overall at 91 for a tournament score of 180 while Jessica O’Brien (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton H.S.) carded a 93 on Tuesday to, improving by five strokes over day one to finish at 191 on the 5,910-yard par-72 course.
Sarah Al-Momar (Sylvania, Ohio/Southview H.S.) improved by 30 strokes over her opening round to shoot 108 on Tuesday while Kadie Savoree (Paris, Ill./Paris H.S.) tallied a 121 after posting a 116 on day one.
Valpo has added an 18-hole dual match on Sunday afternoon beginning at 12:30 p.m. against Chicago State at The Course at Aberdeen.
