Kleckner Sets Record as Crusaders Finish Up Golfweek Program Challenge
Michelle Kleckner broke Valpo's 54-hole scoring record this week.

Valparaiso senior Michelle Kleckner (New Brighton, Minn./Irondale) set a new program scoring record for a 54-hole tournament as the Crusaders wrapped up play Tuesday at the Golfweek Program Challenge, held at the Caledonia Golf & Fish Club in Pawley’s Island, S.C.

Valpo closed the tournament with a third-round total of 341 on Tuesday, finishing the event with a cumulative total of 971 to finish in 11th place out of the 12 competing squads.  The 971 score is the program’s third-best all-time in a 54-hole event.  Campbell earned the team title by shooting an 862.

Kleckner finished out a consistent tournament with her second straight round of 74 on Tuesday, giving her a score of 225 (+12) over the 54 holes to finish in a tie for 21st place.  The 225 is a new program record for a 54-hole event by three shots, while Kleckner’s score in relation to par matches the program record in that regard.

Freshman Angie Kim (Schaumburg, Ill./Fremd) closed on a high note, posting her best tournament round on Tuesday as she shot a 79 to finish at 247, good for 50th place.  Sophomore Sibil Gill (Kokomo, Ind./Western) finished right behind Kim in 51st place with a 249, while freshman Sydney Shrum (Cloverdale, Ind./Cloverdale) placed 56th with a 54-hole score of 266.

Valparaiso returns to action in two weeks at the SIUE DoubleTree Invitational in Edwardsville, Ill. at Sunset Hills C.C.
