Valparaiso University’s women’s golf team shot a first round score of 380 on Monday to place 14th at the midway point of the Butler Fall Invitational held at Eagle Creek Golf Course in Indianapolis, Ind.
Eastern Illinois leads the 36 hole event shooting 307 for the first 18 holes on the 6,197-yard, par-72 layout.
Annie Nolan (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso H.S.) and Jessica O’Brien (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton H.S.) shared the low round of the day by a Crusader, each carding a 91. Nolan posted a back nine 42 while O’Brien turned in her low round of the season.
Kathleen Cooper (Hobart, Ind./Hobart H.S.) added a 98 for the Brown and Gold while Sarah Al-Momar (Sylvania, Ohio/Southview H.S.) shot 100 on day one, a season low for her as well.
Valparaiso will return to the links on Tuesday morning for the final round of action at the tournament. Tee times begin at 7:30 a.m. CDT.
