Valparaiso wrapped up the Hotels at Grand Prairie Classic on Tuesday with a 10th place finish in the 54-hole event held at WeaverRidge Golf Club in Peoria, Ill.
The Crusaders shot 404 as a team on the final day of play, finishing the event with a three-round total of 1,211. Drake took home the tournament title shooting 895 over the two days.
Annie Nolan (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso H.S.) and Jessica O’Brien (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton H.S.) carded the low rounds of the day for the Crusaders on Tuesday, each shooting 92. Nolan finished the tournament tied for 52nd overall shooting 280 on the 6,137-yard, par-72 layout to lead the Brown and Gold. For O’Brien, it was her lowest round of the event, and she finished at 296.
Kathleen Cooper (Hobart, Ind./Hobart H.S.) finished second overall for Valpo, shooting 288 for three rounds with a closing 96. All three of her rounds were within a stroke of each other. Sarah Al-Momar (Sylvania, Ohio/Southview H.S.) shot 124 for the Crusaders on the final day, shooting 347 for the tournament.
Valparaiso will return to the links on Sunday afternoon at the Loyola Invitational held in Chicago, Ill. Round one of the event begins at 11:30 a.m.
