Valpo Women Sixth After Two Rounds at Conference Championships

Valparaiso shot 344 on day two of the Horizon League Championships on Saturday at Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort in Howey-in-the Hills, Fla., and currently sits in sixth place heading into the final round.

 

The Crusaders have totaled 687 through 36 holes, and trails fifth place Youngstown State by nine shots.  Valpo is 16 strokes ahead of seventh place Green Bay.  Butler leads the way at 650, holding a four shot advantage over Detroit.  Cleveland State and Loyola (Chicago) are tied for third at 670.

Erika Pfaender (Pewaukee, Wis./Arrowhead H.S.) is tied for fifth individually after carding a second round 83.  She currently sits at 161 and is one shot out of fourth place.  Brianna Davy (Schererville, Ind./Lake Central H.S.) matched Pfaender for the team’s low round of the day with her 83 on the 5,884-yard, par 73 layout.  She is 20th overall at 171.

Kelly Voigt (Palatine, Ill./Fremd H.S.) added an 88 for the second straight day and is at 176 while Michelle Kleckner (New Brighton, Minn./Irondale H.S.) posted an 89 for a two round total of 179.  Jessica O’Brien (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton H.S.) improved by 13 strokes from her opening round to card a 91 and is at 195 heading into  the final round.

Valparaiso will tee off for the final round on Sunday morning beginning at 6:30 a.m. CDT.
