Crusaders Finish Fifth at Butler Spring Invitational
Kelly Voigt finished second for the Crusaders at 167.

Valparaiso wrapped up play at the Butler Spring Invitational on Tuesday with a fifth place finish at the Butler Spring Invitational held at Prestwick Country Club in Avon, Ind.

The Crusaders shot a final round 348 to finish at 683 for the tournament, three strokes behind fourth place Cleveland State.  Butler won the tournament by 32 strokes over Evansville, finishing at 639.

Freshman A.J. Selig (Hortonville, Wis./Appleton West H.S.) led the Crusaders for the second straight day, carding an 84 to finish at 165, tying for fifth place individually.  Kelly Voigt (Palatine, Ill./Fremd H.S.) also turned in a top-10 effort with her final round 86 to finish at 167.

Kathleen Cooper (Hobart, Ind./Hobart H.S.) carded the team’s third best score of the day, an 88, on the 5,930-yard, par-71 layout.  She finished at 179 for the tournament.  Michelle Kleckner (New Brighton, Minn./Irondale H.S.) added a final round 90 to finish at 172 while Alyssa Cameron (Warsaw, Ind./Warsaw H.S.) also posted a 90 to finish at 187.

Valparaiso will return to the links on Sunday to begin play at the IPFW Spring Classic.  The opening 18 hole-round will begin at 11 a.m. CDT in Fort Wayne, Ind.
