Selig, Kim Pace Crusaders with Top-Twenty Rounds
Angie Kim shot a season-low 78 in round one at the Dayton Fall Invitational

The Valparaiso women’s golf team finished first-round play today at the Dayton Fall Invitational in Kettering, Ohio at NCR Country Club.

The Crusaders were led by senior A.J. Selig (Hortonville, Wis./Appleton West) and sophomore Angie Kim (Schaumburg, Ill./Fremd), who shot season lows of 77 and 78 to finish round one in ties for 13th and 18th place, respectively. Selig birdied three holes as she bested her career low by two strokes, which she set at last year’s Dayton Fall Invitational. Kim’s 78 was two strokes off her career low.

Junior Annie Gaugert (Lake Geneva, Wis./Badger) carded an 85 to finish in a tie for 66th place. Freshman Katie Willenbrink (Mishawaka, Ind./Penn) and junior Sibil Gill (Kokomo, Ind./Western) rounded out the Crusaders' scoring with an 87 and 88 to finish in ties for 74th and 78th place.

As a team, the Crusaders finished the day in a tie for 12th with a score of 327.

Valpo concludes action tomorrow with 18 holes at the Dayton Fall Invitational with an 8:00 am CT shotgun start.
