Kelly Sherwood is entering her second year as the graduate assistant for the women's soccer team in 2014. Sherwood serves as the goalkeeper coach, administers the strength and conditioning program, and aids in recruiting and other office responsibilities.

Prior to arriving at Valpo, Kelly spent a year coaching at Chatham University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As an assistant coach for the Cougars, she worked primarily with the goalkeepers, helping to improve their save percentage nearly 70 points from the previous season. While living in Pittsburgh, Kelly was also the head goalkeeper coach for FC Pittsburgh. She trained 6-10 goalkeepers, both boys and girls ranging from U9 to U17, on a weekly basis. Sherwood also spent time in 2012 as a volunteer assistant at Kent State University, working with the coaches on budgeting, recruiting software, and other office duties.

During her time at Kent State, Sherwood was a member of the varsity soccer team for five years, redshirting her first year. She currently holds the Kent State record for total minutes played and also is ranked among the top 5 in career shutouts, saves, and goals against average. As a captain her senior season, she helped lead the Golden Flashes to a MAC East regular season championship.

Sherwood earned her bachelor's degree in exercise physiology from Kent State University in December 2011. She is currently working towards her master’s degree in sports administration at Valparaiso University, with plans to graduate in May 2015.
