Emily King (Colona, Ill./United Township H.S.) scored her first collegiate goal, and Lori Moore (Dyer, Ind./Lake Central H.S.) scored twice to move into second place all-time in Mid-Continent Conference history for goals scored as Valparaiso shutout IUPUI 3-0 in their conference opener on Sunday afternoon at Eastgate Field.

King put the Brown and Gold on the board at the 36:41 when Kova Kolondzic (Appleton, Wis./Appleton East H.S.) crossed the ball across the box and she headed it home. Valpo went into halftime up 1-0 despite outshooting IUPUI 7-1 in the opening stanza.

Moore began the second half banging home a Lorna Torrez (Dallas Center, Iowa/Dallas Center-Grimes H.S.) rebound just 42 seconds after the stanza began. She then added her 30th career goal at the 78:34 mark taking a Sarah Wittrock (Livonia, Mich./Stevenson H.S.) pass in on a breakaway and scoring.

The Crusaders outshot the Jaguars 15-7 for the match and held a 4-2 advantage on corner kicks. Kristen Templin (Madison, Wis./Middleton H.S.) made four saves for Valpo while Connie Bigott made seven saves for IUPUI (2-8-1, 0-1 Mid-Con).

Valpo (2-6-1, 1-0) returns to action on Friday when the Crusaders head to Western Illinois.
