Crusaders Blanked by Bowling Green

Valparaiso dropped its second straight match on Friday afternoon in Bowling Green, Ohio, falling to the host Falcons 3-0.

Britt Anderson put Bowling Green on the board just 1:40 into the match, heading in a corner kick from Julie Trundle.

Katie Piening increased the lead to two at the 33:11 mark as Keeley Dayton and Trundle drew assists, and Samantha Meister added the final tally at 56:59 as Leslie Dawley had the assist.

The Falcons outshot the Crusaders 22-9 for the match and held a 10-3 advantage on corner kicks.

Danielle Guerra (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton H.S.) made six stops for Valpo (4-8-1), while Erika Flanders made five saves for Bowling Green (8-6-2).

Valpo will travel to Oakland on Sunday afternoon to conclude its conference season. Kickoff against the Golden Grizzlies is 12 p.m. CDT.
