Crusaders Fall at Oral Roberts 4-1

Oral Roberts jumped out to a 2-0 lead and eventually defeated Valparaiso 4-1 late Saturday evening in Tulsa, Okla.

The Golden Eagles jumped on the board just 4:32 into the match as Jessica Kellogg notched her seventh goal of the season. Nicole Bucelluni increased the lead to two just 3:30 into the second half.

Lindsay Holley (Waldorf, Md./Westlake H.S.) cut the deficit in half for Valpo at the 73:27 mark. The tally, her first of the year, put her into a tie for second on the team with eight points. Ashley Shaneyfelt (Roswell, Ga./Roswell H.S.) drew the assist, her third helper of the year.

Megan Agnew put the Golden Eagles back in front by two at the 82:28 mark, and Martha Owens concluded the scoring with a goal at 86:22.

Oral Roberts (9-5-1, 4-1 Mid-Con) outshot Valpo 16-7 for the match and held a 7-2 advantage in shots on goal. Danielle Guerra (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton H.S.) made three saves for the Brown and Gold, while Christy Chapman made one stop for the Golden Eagles.

Valparaiso (3-10-2, 1-2-2) will return to action on Friday afternoon when the Crusaders travel to Kent, Ohio for a 2:30 p.m. CST match against the Golden Flashes of Kent State.
